Fabiola Adaro, who works at Conexión Kimal–Lo Aguirre, became the first Chilean professional to participate in an international design review process for converter transformers in China.
Conexión Kimal–Lo Aguirre highlighted the recognition given to Fabiola Adaro by the XD Transformers factory after she became the first Chilean engineer to participate in a Design Review of converter transformers.
This process, which is key in highly complex projects, brings together international specialists to evaluate and validate that the equipment meets the highest technical and safety standards before it is manufactured and shipped.
Fabiola Adaro’s participation was recognized as a milestone in her career. “It was a challenging process and a great contribution to my professional development. It allowed me to learn in detail about the technical challenges of converter transformers, which are different from conventional ones, and to learn about a technology that did not exist in Chile until now. Being the first Chilean woman and engineer to receive this recognition fills me with pride,” she said.
Relevance of the process
The review was conducted in 2024 at the Xi’an Electric factory in China, in the presence of international specialists responsible for validating the design of strategic equipment that will soon be shipped to Chile. These transformers deliver the voltage needed to convert alternating current to direct current, a technology that will enable large-scale clean energy transmission through the first HVDC Kimal–Lo Aguirre transmission line.
“The fact that an engineer from our team is internationally recognized and participating in such a demanding process is a concrete sign of the technical capacity that exists in Chile. Kimal–Lo Aguirre will not only bring unprecedented electrical transmission technology to the country, but is also promoting the training of professionals who already work under global standards, consolidating our talent as a benchmark in the region’s energy transition,” said Sebastián Fernández, general manager of Conexión.
This international process is key to preventing risks and ensuring quality by standardizing technical standards between countries and strengthening the reliability of projects around the world.
