The Environmental Evaluation Service (SEA) issued this Tuesday the second Consolidated Report of Clarifications, Rectifications or Expansions (Icsara) corresponding to the HVDC Kimal-Lo Aguirre project, as part of the evaluation process that began this initiative in October 2023.

A little over a year after the Environmental Impact Study (EIS) of the Kimal-Lo Aguirre megaline, which will link Antofagasta and Santiago and involves an investment of some US$ 1.5 billion, was submitted, on November 22, the Kimal-Lo Aguirre Connection company submitted the first addendum, which responds to both the observations of the Consolidated Report of Clarifications, Rectifications or Extensions (ICSARA) presented by the State agencies participating in the process, as well as the observations collected during citizen participation.

The nominal capacity of each substation will be 3,000 MW and they will be located near the existing Kimal substations in the Antofagasta Region and Lo Aguirre in the Metropolitan Region.
Tendering process for transmission expansion works receives bids

The National Electric Coordinator held the opening ceremony of administrative and technical offers for the international public tender to expand the transmission system in various parts of the country, a process that had begun last March.

Chile is in the process of expanding its electric transmission system through an international public tender organized by the National Electric Coordinator. Ten companies submitted 37 technical offers for the construction and execution of works, with a reference investment of 223.7 million dollars.
